69 Love Songs is, perhaps, the best collection of songs about love, ever. Over the course of the triple album, Stephen Merritt and crew manage to cover nearly aspect of the whole ridiculous endeavour… falling in love… breaking up… fucking like crazed minks… missing each other… encouraging each others ambitions… understanding/misunderstanding “love”… and in the case of Meaningless, trying to come to terms with nothing, once you’ve had everything.
