one of the more underrated and less talked about 80s post-punk bands are Seattle’s U-Men. along with the Wipers, Melvins, The Rats, The Fartz, and a half dozen other punk bands from the Northwest, they helped lay the groundwork for what was later labeled the Grunge scene…although The U-Men sound more like a hybrid of The Birthday Party and The Dicks than they do anything Screaming Trees or Soundgarden ever put out. Their music is sort of a swamp boogey, psychobilly, noise rock, post-punk mishmash. fans of 80s punk weirdos Butthole Surfers, Scratch Acid, and Flipper should add U-Men to their library.
